1. 背景

本学では「情報」「環境・エネルギー」「健康・生命」の3分野を重点分野と定めて学内教員を中心として研究活動を行ってきた。またチュラロンコン大学をはじめとして海外39の大学と海外学術教育交流協定を結び、主として交換留学や学生交流を行ってきた。

2023年8月に本学設立60周年記念行事の一環として「神奈川工科大学 国際シンポジウム 2023」が開かれた。海外協定校中心に多くの研究者が来学し、招待講演・研究発表を行うと同時に本学教員とさまざまな議論が行われた。これらの中には、議論を継続・発展させることで新たな研究領域や研究テーマ創出につながる可能性が多く見出された。

上記を背景に、海外研究者と本学教員との連携研究への機運が高まった。また海外提携校との連携活動を従来の教育主体から研究へと拡大することで、連携研究の促進が期待された。そこで、研究力強化やグローバル化強化を狙いとして、研究における国際連携拠点を設置することとした。

1. Background

At our university, we have designated the three fields of “Information,” “Environment/Energy,” and “Health/Life” as our priority fields, and have conducted research activities centered on faculty members within the university. In addition, we have concluded overseas academic and educational exchange agreements with 39 overseas universities, including Chulalongkorn University, and have mainly conducted exchange programs and student exchanges.

The Kanagawa Institute of Technology International Symposium 2023 was held in August 2023 as part of the university’s 60th anniversary celebrations. Many researchers, mainly from overseas partner universities, visited our university and gave invited lectures and research presentations, as well as various discussions with our faculty members. Among these, many possibilities were found to lead to the creation of new research areas and research themes by continuing and developing discussions.

Against the background of the above, momentum has increased for collaborative research between overseas researchers and our university faculty. In addition, it was expected to promote collaborative research by expanding collaborative activities with overseas affiliated schools from the conventional focus of education to research. Therefore, we decided to establish an international collaboration base for research with the aim of strengthening our research capabilities and globalization.

2. 組織目標

「情報」「健康・生命」「環境・エネルギー」の分野において、本学の研究活動と海外研究機関・海外研究者の研究活動とを結びつけることで国際的研究連携を促進する。また、国際研究プロジェクトを企画・構築・推進する同時に、プロジェクトを円滑に推進するための各大学・研究期間の国際学術センターが組織的に連携するための環境を整備する。さらに、グローバルに活躍できる研究者および学生の育成を行う。

2. Organizational goals

Promote international research collaboration by linking our university’s research activities with those of overseas research institutions and overseas researchers in the fields of “information,” “health and life,” and “environment and energy.” In addition, while planning, building, and promoting international research projects, we will also create an environment in which international academic centers from each university and research period can collaborate systematically in order to smoothly promote the projects. Furthermore, we will develop researchers and students who can play an active role globally.

4. 定期研究集会

1年に1度、研究拠点メンバや提携校研究者中心にオンラインワークショップを開催する。主催は連携校での持ち回りで行う。オンラインを基本とするが、ワークショップに合わせて相互訪問するなどして連携を深めることも検討する。

4. Regular research meetings

Once a year, we will hold an online workshop centered on research center members and researchers from affiliated schools. The event will be hosted by the partner schools. Although it will primarily be held online, we will also consider deepening collaboration through mutual visits in conjunction with workshops.
